This seminar will facilitate discussion and provide guidance on the review and inspection of alternative and performance-based designs.

The class addresses the true intent of alternative and or performance-based code versus the prescriptive code. It encourages students to look outside the box when evaluating unusual conditions or projects. The ICC Performance Code for Buildings and Facilities® (ICCPC®) will be reviewed as part of this class. Although not widely adopted, this code provides a method to deal with unusual conditions. It also describes the true intent of the I-Codes to assist in evaluating performance-based design.

The instructor is Steve Thomas, who has 45+ years of experience in code development and administration.
